Shaquille O'Neal's physical transformation plan has him losing 55 pounds, just for starters

Shaquille O'Neal, the NBA legend and Hall of Famer is on a mission to get back to his best physical shape. There came a time when due to his weight he couldn't climb stairs and decided to change.

In a recent interview with ET's Nichelle Turner, he revealed that he has lost a staggering 55 pounds. Currently, at 51, he weighs 351 pounds and is determined to reach his championship body once again.

Shaquille O'Neal shared an interesting perspective on his weight loss journey. He compared his current weight to his championship days. Shaq remineced about the time he weighed 345 pounds when he won his first NBA championship in 2000 with the Lakers. Then in 2006, when he led the Miami Heat to their first title, he weighed 315 pounds. These comparisons reflect his determination to get back in the best shape possible.

Shaq's commitment to get in shape

Sonya Curry responds to Shaquille O'Neal's misinformation as she proclaims herself "Black Steph Curr

"I was getting chubby and couldn't even walk up the stairs. I didn't like the way I looked in the mirror," he admitted. "I thought, 'I'm going to lose 20,' and then I was trying to lose 20."

The former basketball player admitted that he sets "crazy goals" and was partly motivated by wanting to surpass his NBA friend, Charles Barkley, affectionately known as "fat." However, his struggles with weight loss were real, as he reached a point where he didn't like how he looked in the mirror and realized he needed to make a change.

How did Shaquille O'Neal manage to lose weight?

Shaquille O'Neal achieved these results through a transformation in his eating habits and a commitment to healthier living. This focus on health and wellness is part of a significant lifestyle change, and he has demonstrated that he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his health goals.

"I got a couple of people involved: it's all about eating right. I had blood work done, and a friend of mine called me and said, 'You're fat,' and she gave me this guy's name, and he did some blood work, and you know, because I was the athlete, I didn't eat salads. I won't pay attention to any of that. I don't care about any of that. I didn't know what the difference was between a carbohydrate and a protein, at 50 years old I never knew. So, he would say, 'You can't do this, you can't do that, more vegetables.' And once I started changing certain things, everything got better."
