Happy 10th Birthday, Motion In The Ocean!
It’s been 10 years since McFly released their third studio album Motion in the Ocean.
The album was released in the United Kingdom on November 6, 2006, selling more than 300,000 copies and being certified platinum. The album features some of the band’s biggest hits, including ‘Star Girl,’ and ‘Little Joanna,’ with the limited edition featuring McFly’s famous cover of Freddie Mercury’s classic, ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.’ The album debuted at number six in UK Album charts and has since become a fan favourite.
Since then the band have had countless successes. With 18 consecutive top 20 singles and 7 reaching that all important number one spot in the UK singles chart. The band have sold more than 10 million records worldwide, as well as winning more than 30 awards, including their very own BRIT award.
Since releasing Motion In The Ocean, the boys have released two more albums and are said to be working towards their sixth which will hopefully be released next year. As well as their five albums, they have also released a biography, performed at numerous charity events and have travelled all over, performing 12 tours to date.
And let’s not forget their participation in supergroup McBusted. This supergroup also sold out two tours when they travelled throughout the UK and Ireland, performing legendary songs as well as new songs from their self-titled album ‘McBusted,’ on the McBusted tour and the McBusted’s Most Excellent Adventure Tour. However, original McFly fans were not disappointed to see the break up of McBusted when Charlie Simpson announced that he was joining the Busted boys, James Bourne and Matt Willis to tour in 2015, because it meant that McFly could make their own comeback.
Earlier in the year McFly toured four cities in their Anthology tour. With each city came three nights featuring different set lists with a different McFly album in its entirety per night! Talk about tiring…
